I started my lab as an Assistant Professor in the Neuroscience Institute at Georgia State University in August 2024. I received my BA from Oberlin College in 2011 and did my PhD at the University of California, San Francisco, where I worked on innate immune signaling in homeostatic plasticity in the lab of Grae Davis. During my postdoc at Brandeis University in the lab of Piali Sengupta, I established the C. elegans thermosensory neurons, AFD, as a model system for experience-dependent gene expression. I love music, and I’m learning to play the piano.

Background in Biological Science, Applied and Environmental Microbiology. As the lab manager, I ensure the lab maintains operational standards and is safe while encouraging a fun and productive learning experience. Also, I am enthusiastically exploring the expression of genetic alterations in C. elegans neural network, specifically its AFD neurons. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to instrumental music and birthday week celebrations.

I am a post-bacc student making a career transition from literature to neuroscience (and loving it)! I am preparing for a PhD in neuroscience and am currently drawn to the molecular and genetic mechanisms of neuronal plasticity. During time outside the lab, you have a good chance of finding me biking with my kids, tinkering with a home renovation, or working with the Baha’i community in grassroots community development.

I am a first-year neuroscience student at Georgia State University. I love to listen to NPR podcasts to start off my day and watch anime to end off my night. My other hobbies are working out and gardening. Although it is my first time working in a Research Lab, I am excited to do work on C. elegans and explore the neural functions of AFD.
